What is it
The pristine waters of Cocos Island are a magnet for divers from all over the world. Known as the Island of the Sharks, famed for its huge schools of scalloped hammerheads and spectacular coral reefs.
In December 2017 this underwater paradise was horror-struck when a female tiger shark fatally attacked a diver and severely wounded another. The locals have named this monster predator Lagertha.
Dr Craig O’Connell, Vicky Vasquez and underwater cinematographer Andy Casagrande are on a mission to track down Lagertha, find out what makes her so aggressive, and try to understand what happened that day. Using cutting edge technology, will they come face to face with a killer?

Look
Shooting on Gemini and Helium Red Weapon and with impressive underwater cinematography by Andy Casagrande, Fifty Fifty Senior Colourist, Joe Stabb and Director Martin Cass worked on the grade and went with a Fuji print stock look to bring out the richness of the tropical greens of the Cocos Islands and the deep and pristine blues of the Pacific. Joe used Baselight’s Boost Contrast tool on most of the underwater footage allowing him to create a consistent contrast level and sharpen the mid tones to gain valuable detail in the body of the Sharks.
Beth Sayer, Fifty Fifty Online Editor conducted in the online in Avid Symphony 2020 in high frame rate at 59.97p for a HD SDR delivery to Discovery. Beth also created the main GFX title for the film.
